Miles Gordon Technology is incorporated
Miles Gordon Technology (MGT) is incorporated as a private limited company in Swansea.
MGT had already been working as a subcontractor to Rockfort Products before its incorporation. The new company would go on to become one of the most important names in the later history of the ZX Spectrum.
MGT produced the DISCiPLE disk interface and later the +D disk interface, giving Spectrum owners practical disk storage without having to buy a Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3.
The company subsequently turned its attention to a new computer. The SAM Coupé, introduced in 1989, was designed as a powerful successor to the Spectrum and retained a high degree of compatibility with Spectrum software.
MGT was re-registered as a public limited company on 25 May 1989. It eventually went into receivership in 1990.
