Personal Computer News begins publication

The first issue of Personal Computer News, a new British magazine devoted to the rapidly expanding personal-computer market, appeared during the week beginning 12 March 1983. Issue 1 was dated “week ending 18 March 1983” and included coverage of a wide range of home and personal computers, including the ZX Spectrum.

The magazine subsequently became an important contemporary source for developments in the British home-computer industry.

Issue 1 of Personal Computer News is dated “week ending 18 March 1983”. The first seven issues used week-ending dates, indicating that the issue dated 18 March covered the publication week beginning 12 March. A contemporary Personal Computer World advertisement announced the launch of the new publication on Friday 11 March 1983. The 12 March date is therefore used here as the beginning of the first publication week rather than as a claimed exact retail release date.
